Food Truck Call-out
Melbourne’s vaunted mobile cuisine fleet (which includes the BeatBox Kitchen, pictured) has a contender.
The City of Sydney is putting a call-out for expressions of interest in a food truck pilot program for 2012. From the release:
The City of Sydney invites Expressions of Interest from sole traders, companies, and registered food businesses with the full capability to design and deliver innovative menus, and prepare, cook and vend gourmet style take-away food for public consumption in the City of Sydney during a trial period from January 2012 to January 2013.
The 2012 Sydney Food Trucks Pilot is an opportunity to be selected for the first group of mobile food vending vehicles vending within the LGA. Vendors are encouraged to offer a range of food products suitable for outdoor consumption that captures the essence of Sydney as an exciting street food destination.
You can bet some amazing chefs will be salivating at this opportunity, and you’ll be salivating even harder when we finally hear the results! A few more small bars and better late-night trading rules and telling Melbourne once and for all to go stuff itself into The Age and smoke it.
What kind of food trucks would you like to see? Fire off in the comments.
